## Metody wykorzystania ciepła odpadowego w tłoczniach gazu ziemnego

#### Abstract

Natural gas compressors stations are an important part of the gas transmission systems. Most of the modern gas compressor stations use centrifugal compressors driven by gas turbines. Usually gas turbines operate in an ‘open circuit’. The combustion products after expanding through turbine are emitted directly into surroundings. A large amount of energy, called waste heat, is emitted to the surroundings along hot exhaust gases. The subject of the doctoral thesis was to evaluate possibilities of applying selected waste heat recovery systems from the exhaust of gas turbines used in a natural gas compressor station. This compressor station is part of the Polish natural gas transmission system. In the dissertation a gas turbine open circuit was described. The examples of heat recovery installations used on natural gas compressor stations in Europe and in the World were also presented. The analysis of a gas cooling system (air-fin coolers) used currently in gas compressor station was conducted . The calculation algorithms of gas compression and gas cooling were presented and verified with measuring data, depicted works of gas compressor and air coolers in winter and spring season. The next chapters show results of technical and economical analysis for proposed heat recovery installations: - Installation with absorption chiller, which produced chilled water used for cooling a gas, - Installation with Heat Recovery Steam Generator (HRSG) and electric current generator driven by steam turbine, - Installation used Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) which make possible to generate electric current, In this work calculation of chosen devices from proposed heat recovery installation was made: gas – chilled water heat exchanger, heat recovery steam generator, gas turbine exhaust – thermal oil heat exchanger, pentane cooler and condenser. Also the gas cooling efficiency between current and proposed gas cooling system was examined. At the end of the thesis advantages and disadvantages of proposed solutions were discussed. Both from thermodynamic and exploitation point of view. This work shows that applying installation of waste heat recovery from the exhaust of gas turbines in discussed natural gas compressor stations is favorable not only for the increase of the fuel energy utilisation factor. Some parts of the proposed systems may also be profitable and largely decrease the exploitation costs of gas compressor stations.
