## Wykorzystanie osadu dennego jako nowego napełniacza kompozytów na osnowie polyolefin

#### Abstract

This thesis concerns polyolefin composites with new mineral filler – bottom sediment, which is treated as a waste product of restoration and desludging of water reservoirs. The aim of presented work was to prove the possibilities of sediments unitization by using it as a filler in polymer matrix composites. To this end characteristic of the filler was obtained. The structure and chemical composition of the sediments were examined using a scanning electron microscope. Phase composition was determined using the fluorescent X-ray spectrometer. Particle size and surface area of the filler were determined using a laser particle size analyzer. With experimentally determined technological parameters a series of polyolefin matrix composites were prepared with 10, 15 and 25 weight percent of filler content. Physical and mechanical properties were analyzed and structure of the samples was examined using electron microscopy and X-ray tomography. Thermal properties were determined during TGA and DSC analysis. Tensile properties were investigated in static tensile and flexural strength tests. The obtained results indicates that the use of bottom sediments as a filler in thermoplastics improves their mechanical properties. The proposed technology can be used as a method of residue management for the water reservoirs purification process.
