Modelling deformation and stress of the pipeline during medium flow

Abstract

There were examined periodically bending stresses derived from the portion of the pipeline, while the medium flow. Quantitative information about the bending was obtained from the experiment. For this purpose, time realizations of acceleration of nine cross sections for the chosen plain part of the pipe forming the pipeline ware taken. The accelerations were measured by the system x, y, z where the z-axis coincides with the axis of the tube. For each section, on the outer surface of the tube, time realizations of accelerations were taken in two mutually perpendicular directions x and y. Accelerometers for measuring acceleration of the individual sections were placed under each other to be found in two planes perpendicular to each other. If the coordinate system x, y, z is associated with the first section, and by subtracting the vector set displacement, it is possible to determine deformation from bending of the examined part of the pipeline in the other sections of the pipeline in two directions defined by two axes perpendicular to the tube axis. Assuming that, for small deformation, each-section is circular, it may be considered that the measured acceleration will be the same as the acceleration of points lying on the axis of the tube. As a result, of the double integration of acceleration, the movement of the pipe at each measurement section was determined. On this basis, using the regression method it was also possible to determine a deflection line of the tube axis of the overage and maximum deformation and fotique stresses that arise in the material of the pipe under bending. The obtained quantitative information about the bending which occurs during operation of the pipeline, can be used in strength calculations.
