#### Abstract

In recent years there has been intensive development of computer-aided diagnostic methods . In this matter it interesting seems diagnostic apparatus using digital fundus imaging techniques . Most of the diseases of the eye are characterized by changes in the fundus image. Computer analysis of fundus images will give you not only the opportunity to observe the dynamics of the disease, but also an assessment of the effects of treatment. Using computer systems doctors can learn to recognize the early signs of pathological changes that may develop into serious medical conditions. Better to know early in the disease mechanisms and stages in which the run and the effectiveness of methods of combating them, because then open up new possibilities of prevention and monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and the development of diseases. The primary purpose of the work was to create a system to support evaluation of fundus images for diabetic retinopathy. Images were obtained from Fundus Camera (analog and digital). The System was supposed to make it possible to: • analysis of the entire area of the fundus • measurement of the parameters of the vascular system of the eye ( the angles of branching vessels , vessel diameters and vascular tortuosity factor ) , • early detection of micro- aneurysms , hemorrhages , and vascular leakage • archiving of data obtained from studies using lossless recording methods . • the use of neural networks as a decision-making systems in the course of diagnosis , • the use of segmentation methods to extract features from the image The dissertation presents the most popular solutions used in the diagnosis of diseases of the fundus with a particular focus on diabetic retinopathy. Shows the results of the author's research on the described issues and also present developed diagnostic system. This system can be used to support the assessment of fundus images, also allows to determine the most important parameters of the vascular system: vascular bifurcations angles, diameters of vessels, vascular tortuosity factor and also early detection of microaneurysms on the basis of the analysis of transformed images. Applied artificial intelligence as decision support system - different types of neural networks and system based on fuzzy logic.
