## Standardization of the processes of monolithic concrete construction for planning works with uncertain data

### Artur Koper

#### Abstract

This doctoral thesis regards the issue of researching and standardisation of the processes of work of monolithic concrete construction. Its purpose was the elaboration of methodology of researching and standardisation of the processes regarding the practical use of the results in the sequence of works simulation in planning the construction works and making the control over robots production resources available in time. The methodology of researching and standardisation of the processes of work of monolithic concrete construction presented in this thesis against the methodology of work planning considers the needs of planning such works with the use of the simulation technique. This technique demands the definition of planning data variation, such as resources amount of labour, completion time and the realisation costs of the tasks defined in the work background structure (WBS) of the plan. Presently, the probabilistic description of standards of material amount is not used in construction. A crucial difficulty of the problem is the non-uniformity of the structure of standardisation basis of operational processes in construction. Planning requires data about the amounts of labour related to technological activities, basic processes, complex processes and construction facility elements. These plans, however, are elaborated with a different accuracy of WBS as well as the resources structure. During the standardisation of work processes what is required is the technique of integrating the standards of technological activities defined on the basis of measuring amount of work at the construction site. This thesis suggested the use of the simulation and statistical interference theory to define the character of required variables distribution. Analyses, methodologies, models and the procedures of research, standardisation and work planning were related to the execution of ferro-concrete monolithic structures – the works in which there is rich saturation of production means, time diversity of the use of the resources; in which there are required some planning experiments aiming at looking for the beneficial work schedules. Such experiments can be conducted providing the appropriate working processes data base is in possession. This thesis assumed that it is possible to elaborate the methodology of standardisation of the technical processes of work in the execution of ferro-concrete monolithic structures, thus giving the results practical with the simulation of the sequence of works in construction enterprises planning. To prove the thesis: • some studies were conducted on problems of construction execution planning, especially differentiation of decisive problems of planning monolithic concrete construction works, • the theories and research techniques as well as standardisation of work processes were presented, • a model for research methodology and standardisation of processes of monolithic concrete construction works was suggested, • an example of research and standardisation processes related to the execution of ferro-concrete elements at a construction site was included. The issues were presented in five chapters of the thesis. The first chapter introduces the domain of the thesis, defining its subject, the aim, the thesis itself and formulating the reasons to perform the research and studies in this area. The second chapter identifies the problems of planning the monolithic concrete construction works, the techniques of solving them, formulating at the same time the decisive models, the rules and the forms of data description and planning results. Here, there were presented the problems of choosing the system of forms, the organisation of elevation works in execution of monolithic concrete constructions, concrete process organisation and harmonising the processes of monolithic concrete construction. This chapter includes the author's genuine models and analytical techniques. The third chapter presents the core and the purposes of construction processes research, the critical analysis of present research methods and the defined procedure structure of planning and realising technological processes research along with the description of the methodologies and techniques of researching, measuring and standardisation of the processes of work. There were also presented the sheet specimens (process, material course, and the observation – calculation sheet timing) necessary for correct and reliable registering of the actual state in construction processes research. The fourth chapter is the description of suggested by the author methodology of research and standardisation of monolithic concrete construction processes with regards to the practical use of the results in planning the construction execution by the simulation technique. This methodology was used in practice, in pilot stage of processes, which was presented in the fifth chapter of this thesis. The thesis was completed with a summary with formulated conclusions and problems for further research.
