Multi - criteria evaluation of the selection of vehicles for tasks in

Abstract

In the thesis the method of the selection of vehicles for the task in distribution systems which has been implemented in the form of a computer application is introduced. The computer application is a tool that can be used as a help for policy makers, managers, logistics operators, and individual users in making decisions how to properly select type of vehicle for specific task. The main criteria for senders (individual and companies) are future transportation costs and the tasks which the cars are dedicated for. Important are forms of financing (credit, cash) and promptness of delivery to the recipients. In scenarios, when for final evaluation has influence on not one but more criteria multi – criteria evaluation should be performed. The computer application, multi – criteria evaluation, allows to select means of transport with respect to certain expectations of the recipient. By the expectations of the recipient tool understands a certain technical data set of means of transport, which, from the user point of view, should be characterized. The application is built on the basis of multi-criteria evaluation of these parameters which indicates the means of transport that are the most similar to the expectations of the recipient, as well as calculates the cost of the task. The first chapter of the thesis is a research where the basic concepts and definitions used in thesis are defined: system, distribution, distribution system, multi – criteria decision support, the ranking methods. Critical analyze of the literature in the field of research area, the characteristics of distribution system of means of transport in relation producer – users has been performed. What is more the hypothesis and purpose of the paper has been defined. The next chapter contains mathematical formulation, a formal model of the vehicles distribution (means of transport). Formal specification of vehicles has been introduced, explaining specifications influence on different types of costs. First elements used in the multicriteria evaluation have also been described. There are relations, dependence, demand and supply potential in distribution system of vehicles described. The fourth chapter contains developed multi-criteria evaluation of means of transport, characterization and description of the main steps of the calculation procedure: input data, selection, evaluation. The algorithm method described in this chapter has been implemented in a spreadsheet and web application. Web application is a tool and can be used by individual users and companies during buying the means of transport from dealers. The application can be used by everyone who has access to the Internet. Functions and operation of the individual modules are presented in chapter five. Chapter sixth is a verification of the developed method using the actual data. That part of thesis presents a real problem of selection of vehicles for a specific transport scenario for individual client and for company client as well. The results from the application are presented and interpreted in the form of graphs where there is a possibility to see type of analyzed costs and the influence for total costs of ownership. Last chapter presents a summary and conclusions of the thesis together with correctness of performed research that proves examined hypothesis.
