Methods of the context addressable message routing in wireless ad-hoc networks

Abstract

The thesis is about methods of discovery and routing using Context-Based Addressing in Mobile Ad-Hoc Networks (MANET) and Delay Tolerant Networks (DTN). Context-Based Addressing is a novel way of addressing that is performed in a descriptive manner. The key part of this work are methods for node discovery and message routing that use specialized semantic domain model. The methods rely on two techniques: hierarchy of terms representing context, and graph of terms that describe physical communiaction abilities between nodes described by those terms. The methods are described separately for hierarchical model as a dedicated solution for MANET, predefinied graph model as a solution for DTN, and also as an integrated solution for whole kind of ad-hoc networks. Extensive performance simulations using simulation tool are presented. The simulations are based on two node context description assignment models. Teh simulation results are veryfied using a simple analitical model.
