Abstract

The molecular interactions have great influence for properties of nitrocellulose mixtures with low molecular compounds. The method of determination of Flory-Huggins parameter of interaction by DSC method was described. This parameter was established taking into account thermal effects of melting the low molecular component of mixture, obtained during the first DSC measurement. During this measurement, the mixture between two compounds is forming. This calculated parameter enabled for the prediction of phase diagrams, determination of solubility curves and eutectic components. Thermoporymetry method allowed for measurement of pore sizes. This parameter is significant for kinetics of combustion process. For the prediction of glass transition temperature, the Lu-Weiss model was applied. The Flory-Rehner equation was applied for prediction the molecular mass between lattices bow Me. The Young module was calculated using Me values. This mechanistic parameter has important meaning for prediction of behaviour of grains of gunpowder formed under the great pressure during the combustion in the closed system.
