Abstract

The aim of the dissertation was to apply the fractal geometry and analysis to the cartographic investigation method of some components of natural environment. The fractal analysis enables the quantitative description of natural environment components. The fractal geometry is usefull in describing and analysing natural, self-similar river networks. The fractal analysis is also usefull tool in classification of an environment in any spatial scale. The statistics shows that the fractal dimension can differentiate geographical regions. The fractal analysis was also applied to create the algorithms of decompresion of the spatial data.
