## The design of small suport - recreational yacht with a wooden compliment (lux edition)

#### Abstract

The aim of the following diploma thesis was to design and conduct the research on constructed models and to build and provide the study of a sailing yacht prototype. The deiled construction documentation is also provided. The initial stages of the project meant to select the shape of the hull in order to fulfill the basic criteria while building hulls of sailing yachts. The main focus was to reduce the member of lengthwise movements and to increase the maximum flow of transverse movements. The two 1:4 scale models were built on the basis of the research. The speed of the hulls were tested in terms of diverse driving force, side cants and ballast. This method allowed to compare the two models and decide on a more advanced construction. Owing to relatively low costs and little time spent on building the models it was possible to avoid mistakes which appeared during the process of constructing the prototype in real scale. Building the prototype and models required a construction of a form glued with a carapace. After disassembling of the carapace out of the from, it was supposed to be completed and equipped with accessories. While constructing the prototype of the 4m long hull, it was possible to face problems which appeared whilst doing the project. The problems concerned the realization and research on greater real units. The accepted measurements enabled an additional comparison between the project and already existed recreational rowing regatta on the basis of similar parameters. The study of the prototype entitled verification of the theoretical assumptions of the project. Measurements were conducted in the same manner as in the models. The optional setting of the mast and centerboard was made. In order to improve shipping safety and ergonomics, some corrections were proposed. That was especially crucial for production series units. However, the most essential was the lift of the side edge. It was also important to reduce the weight of the hull. Prepared technical documentation allowed a yacht to be developed. A fundamental assumption of the wooden complement was to apply it for a repetition work and single vessel production.
