The anodic oxidation of aluminum and its alloys /Paweł Nerło

Abstract

The present thesis deals with the process of hard anodizing aluminum alloys such as A2, PA4, PA6 and PA9. As part of this work, a series of experiments and research was completed in order to develop a universal anodizing operation. The research also helped to understand the oxidation process and to develop a complete technology of high-quality hard anodic coatings. The samples taken during the experiments were assessed for hardness, thickness and surface topography. As a result a very thick coating was achieved, of a hardness similar to that of hardened steel. Parts made of aluminum with surface coated with the developed method are suitable to be tools for forming plastic in industry. The research also led to constructing a professional device for the aluminum oxidizing process. Thanks to this, further research was made possible; it also ensured constant process conditions for anodizing. All in all, a complete technology was developed of making high quality oxide coatings; oxide layers formed on aluminum alloys are competitive with those offered by the Polish galvanizing industry.

W niniejszej pracy zajmowano się procesem twardego anodowania stopów aluminiowych: A2, PA4, PA6 i PA9. W ramach badań przeprowadzono serię eksperymentów związanych z doborem parametrów technologicznych anodowania. Celem przeprowadzonych badań było otrzymanie wysokiej jakości użytkowych, twardych powłok tlenkowych na aluminium. Pobrane próbki były oceniane pod względem twardości, grubości i topografii powierzchni. Wynikiem jest stworzenie kompletnego procesu pozwalającego wytwarzać grube, równomierne warstwy tlenkowe, o wysokich twardościach. Do celów badawczych zbudowano profesjonalne stanowisko półprzemysłowe, umożliwiające przeprowadzanie badań oraz produkcji jakościowych powłok w stałych warunkach procesu.
