Benefit of real ageing spectrum (temperature/humidity) on composite material and structures behavior

Abstract

Carbon  fiber-­‐epoxy  specimens  were  conditioned  in  different  temperatures  and  moisture  states.     The  conditions  were   dry  state,   standard  saturated,  and  real-­‐life  cycle.   After  conditioning,   mechanical  testing  was  performed  to  determine  failure  strength  under  room  temperature  and   70C.  The  three  different  tests  performed  were  filled  hole  compression  strength,  curved  beam   failure  load,  and  pure  bearing  double  lap  shear.   A  theoretical  and  experimental  study  was   performed  to  compare  the  effects  of  different  moisture  ageing  conditioning  of  specimens  on  some   sensitive  allowable  properties  of  a  composite  material.
