## The research about controlling the process of AC slow charging the electric cars

#### Abstract

The aim of this work is the presentation of the energy balance by the calculation how much energy the electric car BMW i3 will use for traction purposes during the NEDC test. There was constructed the diagnostic tester for electric cars’ (Mennekes) charger. The device will be used for visualizing the process of charging the cars. Thanks to this tester it will be possible to check in easy way does the charger work correctly and to eliminate its possible wrong working. The tester can serve for checking the proper work of newly produced chargers. The charger has specially constructed electronics which cause that outside the car it does not have any current values on the plug. The current starts to flow only after connecting it to the car. The tester puts the charger into individual charging stages, the same as it should behave in the properly working car. The particular stages switch on using the right resistances. In the right stages there is a change of the fulfillment of the PWM and the voltage changes. The results were presented on the oscilloscope. Turning on the next stages is signalized by the glowing diode in the built-in module. In this work there are discussed physical and technical issues, which were necessary to do this project.
