## Design and development of digitally controlled analog sinusoidal waveform generator with current output

### Marcin Obiedziński

#### Abstract

The subject of this thesis was design and development of the digitally controlled analog sinusoidal waveform generator with both current and voltage output was designed and then built. The amplitude and frequency can be controlled via a computer. This device could find practical use in detecting metal in food products. The first part of this thesis describes different types of sinusoidal waveform generators. It lists all their key parameters and groups them according to the way of generation of sinusoidal waveform and types of electronic components they use. Various schemas paired with example configurations are presented. Different generator circuits were discussed and one was chosen as best suiting the project. The practical part of the thesis presents specifically how the generator was developed. It also contains the descriptions and circuit schemas of all the modules of the device. This part of the paper also shows the experimental simulation of how the generator works using the Tine-TI program. Next, the software controlling the generator that was developed as part of this paper is described. The software handles communication between the microcontroller and the computer. After the generator was developed, a number of tests were carried out to make sure that it is working correctly. The paper shows example output signals of the device. The total harmonic distortion of these signals was measured. The frequency and amplitude values of output signals were measured. For the obtained results which analysis of measurement uncertainties was carried out. The results of the measurements allowed formulation of final conclusion and the possibilities of further development of the device.
