## Magnetic-powder method verification using MSA analysis in identifying number fields

#### Abstract

The functioning of modern industry is strongly based on various types of measuring systems. Therefore, their proper operation, including the correct interpretation of the information received, becomes crucial in order to maintain the efficiency of production lines or the uniform quality of manufactured goods. Therefore, the issue of MSA systems and their use in identifying number fields was taken up in the paper. Considering the general characteristics of identifying number fields and known techniques for verifying the authenticity of VIN identification number fields, the magnetic-powder method was selected as potentially suitable. The results obtained using this measurement method were input to the MSA system, whose task was to assess the actual usefulness of magnetic flaw detection. The scope of the experimental part includes: preparation of samples for testing, conducting a magnetic-powder test and analysis of results using the method for attribute systems. Based on the form of results obtained using the magnetic powder method (defectograms), the so-called "Kappa", which is used to evaluate attribute measuring systems. The assumption of the experiment is perceiving as a measuring system the relationship: researcher, magnetic powder method, attribute result. Experimental results were subjected to MSA analysis, which was used to determine the Kappa coefficient. By comparing the determined indicator with the numerical criteria for system classification and the analysis of researchers' assessments, it was possible to conclude that the magnetic powder method can be considered capable of obtaining measurable measurement results in the given task of identifying number fields.
