## The influence of light aircraft’s covering technology on its performance

#### Abstract

The aim of this work is to examine the impact of the material from which the light aircraft’s skin is made on its performance. The tests were carried out in a wind tunnel using specially constructed tunnel models. The first part of the study contains a description of solutions used so far in light aviation and the presentation of new generation materials, which due to the technology of performance may in some way affect the performance of the aircraft. Based on the literature review, the physical phenomenon expected to occur was presented. The second part of the thesis describes the requirements for the model and the process of its design in a CAD program. Much of the work is dedicated to the description in the implementation of tunnel models using numerically controlled machines, using vacuum composite lamination and traditional methods and tools. The third section consists of the description of tests carried out in the wind tunnel and a detailed analysis is carried out in relation to the results predicted earlier. In the last chapters of the document, conclusions drawn from tunnel tests and suggestions regarding modification of tunnel models for testing materials for covering light aircraft have been included. In addition, the difficulties created during model design, manufacturing and research are summarized.
