## Design of a folding guide with electric drive for photovoltaic awning

#### Abstract

The purpose of the thesis was to design a guide, that can be folded using an electric drive and a system of guide carriers cooperating with this guide for use in the design of a photovoltaic awning. At the outset, the idea of constructing an awning made of solar cell segments is introduced and it is justified, why guide has to be a part of it. The next part indicates detailed technical requirements. The basic ones are concerning the minimum length of the guide, the expected time of folding, the dimensions of photovoltaic segments cooperating with it and resistance to atmospheric conditions. In the next chapter five possible concepts of folding guides with their pros and cons are presented and the one accepted for implementation is chosen - a guide consisting of two rigid segments connected with joints. A functional diagram of this solution is presented. In the next chapter, a list of proposed solutions for single blocks of the functional diagram is presented and the advantages and disadvantages of each of them in relation to the previously set requirements are presented. Solutions chosen for implementation are chosen, including the most key ones: - folding mechanism of the guide, in which the first segment is rotated using a stepper motor through a worm gear, while the second one using a pull rod fixed to the awning frame, - drive system of guide carriers in which constantly connected photovoltaic segments are moved along the guide thanks to a connection with a rotating drive wheel located in the solar panels storage located by the wall on which the device is mounted, - track of the guide made of extruded aluminum profiles adapted to cooperate with rolling trolleys of solar panel guide carriers. The choice of these solutions is justified, taking into account the possibilities of cooperation between single functional blocks and the kinematic diagram of the device is made. The sixth chapter presents basic calculations concerning the kinematics and dynamics of the designed guide, calculations concerning the force reactions while it is in motion and the required rotational speeds, powers and torques of used drives. In the seventh chapter the design of the guide is described. It presents the basic constrains in the device, the method of cooperation of components and the selection of motors, gears, couplings and bearings for use in the device. The results of the strength analysis of the most loaded structures - guide and joints are also shown.
