Image codec based on selection of blocks wavelet transform

Abstract

The main aim of this study is the implementation and the verification of the image codec that is based on the selection of blocks of the highest amount of energy after the performing of the CDF 9/7 wavelet transform on a given image. To achieve this goal, the C++ programming language with MSVC++ 14 compiler was used along with open source library OpenCV, version 3.4.3, and Python 3.7.1 programming language to perform tests and to evaluate data compression ratio and overall quality of given images.

Celem pracy jest programowa implementacja oraz weryfikacja wyników działania kodeka opartego na selekcji bloków z największą ilością energii w obrazie po zastosowaniu transformacji falkowej CDF 9/7. Do realizacji tego zagadnienia został wykorzystany język programowania C++ z użyciem kompilatora MSVC++ 14, biblioteka OpenCV 3.4.3, oraz Python 3.7.1 do testowania działania opracowanego kodeka, oceny jego jakości i stopnia kompresji.
