IT Governance mechanisms

Abstract

The following work consist of two parts. In the first part author thoroughly examines the topic of IT Governance. It begins with clearing up fundamental issues, such as what exactly is IT Governance and what constitutes IT Governance. After that, it moves on to make a diligent comparison of two industry-standard frameworks for the provisioning of IT Governance in business organizations: Cobit and ITIL. It also presents complementary ISO/lEC 27001 standard. The second part guides the reader through the software engineering process. Aim of the process is to create a working software solution which will support the management in implementing Cobit framework in individual business conditions, thus achieving IT Governance.

Niniejsza praca skiada się z dwóch części. Część pierwsza skupia się na tematyce IT Governance, rozpoczynając od odpowiedzi na fundamentalne pytania: Czym jest IT Governance?, Z jakich elementów składa się IT Governance?. Następnie zostaje przeprowadzona analiza porównawcza dwóch powszechnie akceptowanych metodyk osiągania IT Governance: Cobit oraz ITIL. Zaprezentowany zostanie również pomocniczy standard ISO/lEC 27001. Druga część przedstawia proces wytwarzania oprogramowania. Celem wytwarzanej aplikacji jest wspieranie kierownictwa w implementacji schematu Cobit w konkretnej organizacji biznesowej.
