## Extrapolation model of mobile object for distributed simulation

#### Abstract

The main subject of this paper is an extrapolation model of mobile object, particularly aircraft. Research conducted for the model are considered in respect of use in distributed simulation. With the aim of introducing the idea of distributed simulation, numerous references to computer games appear in this thesis. Most notable case is the game called Operation Flashpoint along with its engine, Virtual BattleSpace, as a forefather to use of distributed simulation towards military training. Additionaly, dead reckoning using extrapolation model is delineated along with certain examples describing its valid operation. Author conducts considerations on the subject of assets used in mentioned earlier DR in terms of limiting bandwidth usage as well as protecting simulation from loss of communications. Furthermore, few fundamental cases associated with High Level Architecture are mentioned. Introduction to this paper contains also description of WGS – 84 geodetic system, which is an essential reference system for Global Positioning System functioning. This description contains equations used to link angular distances with distances expressed in meters. Primary presumption of this diploma thesis is creation of a program which generates extrapolation model in the simplest form in order to minimize bandwith usage, while simulation realism must be preserved. Also, the program should provide automatic updates for positioning based on dead reckoning-to-actual position comparison. In order to achieve that, the algorithm makes a comparison of real-life distances in reference to geographic position uncertainty and margin of error established earlier for Unmanned Aerial Vehicle. Last chapter of this paper contains results of the research regarding running of the extrapolation model in two main cases: stable flight with settled direction, without climb, and flight with change of direction and altitude of aircraft.
