Construction and operation of the Hamilton Walker engine

Abstract

The purpose of this diplom thesis was to present the engine designed by New Zeland engineer and farmer Hamilton Walker. To create 3D model there were used SolidWorks software and application for the patent from 1965 year. The model prepared for this study with other available data was used for thermodynamic calculations of the engine. It allowed for estimating efficiency of power unit. Another part include strength analysis. They were measured in SolidWorks software using 7 rotational speeds: 1000 RPM, 2000 RPM, 3000 RPM, 4000 RPM, 5000 RPM, 6000 RPM and 10000 RPM. These analyzes showed setting for which Hamilton Walker’s engine can work without failure.

W pracy przedstawiono silnik pomysłu i konstrukcji nowozelandzkiego farmera-wynalazcy Hamiltona Walkera. Na podstawie zgłoszenia patentowego z roku 1965 wykonano model 3D w programie SolidWorks. Wykorzystując powstały model oraz inne dostępne informację dokonano podstawowych obliczeń termodynamicznych silnika, które pozwoliły teoretycznie oszacować jego sprawność. Następnie wykonano analizy wytrzymałościowe w programie SolidWorks dla 7 prędkości obrotowych: 1000 obr/min, 2000 obr/min, 3000 obr/min, 4000 obr/min, 5000 obr/min, 6000 obr/min i 10000 obr/min. Analizy te wskazały dla jakich nastawów silnik Hamiltona Walkera może pracować bezawaryjnie.
