## Concept design of the transshipment terminal

#### Abstract

The occurrence of point infrastructure in transport is an element necessary to carry out transport processes. Thanks to such infrastructure, it is possible to handle loads transported using various transport technologies. An example of this kind of infrastructure are transshipment terminals, where transshipment operations and changes of means of transport are made. The aim of the diploma thesis is to design a trans-shipment terminal enabling the handling of selected loads, which will be transported using two types of auxiliary equipment and two transport technologies. The completion of the thesis required the following scope of work. The first chapter presents basic information about the transport process, transshipment terminals and the principles of their design. The second chapter presents the factors for selecting the location of the trans-shipment terminal. In the third and fourth chapter identification of loads handled in the designed terminal as well as data necessary to design the trans-shipment terminal. In the fifth chapter, the design of the trans-shipment terminal was made in the analytical and graphical form. The sixth chapter presents a summary of the results obtained and conclusions resulting from the implementation of the diploma thesis. The result of the diploma thesis is the design of the transshipment terminal enabling the handling of accepted types and quantities of cargo. The result of the diploma thesis is getting acquainted with commonly used transport technologies and getting to know the rules of designing transshipment points for pallet load units and containers.
