## Motion detection system based on laser-ranging sensors

#### Abstract

Nowadays, motion detection is becoming commonplace, and its applications cover more and more areas of life. The thesis introduces an idea of a motion detection system based on laser-ranging sensors. The system was developed by the author. Motion detectors are usually simple electronic systems that can detect movement in their surroundings and send information about it to an external control device. The device created during this project works exactly in the same way. The system consists of several modules, the most important of which are laser-ranging sensors. They are able to measure the distance to objects in their surrounding using invisible infrared radiation. Because of high precision of measurements and high sensitivity they are able to accurately detect the movement of such objects. The system is equipped with the Wi-Fi module, designed to connect to WLAN networks and send information about movement in its surroundings to other devices in the network. The thesis describes the process of designing, implementing and testing the system. The introductory chapter presents the general concept and classification of sensors for motion detection. It also discusses the problem of radio communication with such systems. Next, the concept of created system is described. The individual components of the device and their impact on the functioning of the entire system are presented. A printed circuit board design has been included and the device assembly process has been described. The fourth chapter of the thesis refers to microcontroller software controlling the device. It presents the implemented algorithm and describes the ways of communication between individual modules. The device was tested to determine its capabilities and its limitations. The thesis discusses the scope and methodology of the tests, presents their results and the conclusions drawn therefrom. Based on the results of the tests, it can be concluded that the system implements the requirements of the project.
