## Exergy analysis of a 200 MW class combined cycle power plant

#### Abstract

The main purpose of Diploma is analysis of exergy losses occurring in the 200MW combined cycle power plant based on Lublin-Wortkow Power Plant. The aim of the analysis is identification elements that are characterized by irreversible processes and determination of the causes of exergy losses. Introduction contains presents polish power system and a assessment of sustainability of this system in the future years. Next part contains a theoretical description of systems using gas turbines. Described a simple cycle gas-turbine, the most important parameters used to for the assessment of construction and the impact of parameters on the performance of the installation. Next, modifications of simple cycle gas-turbine that increase energy efficiency and combined cycle gas turbine and their parameters are presented. The next part contains the definition of exergy and related concepts. There is description of mechanisms of losses exergy and possible ways to minimalize them. In addition, the exergy efficiency was defined and the algorithm for creating exergy balance are presented. The next part is the most important element of this diploma, because it contains a description of creating the model that was used in the simulation. Assumptions, the method of calculating exergy losses and exergy balance are presented. The simulation results that was done using HYSYS software are described. In the final part results are analyzed and findings are described. Causes of losses in devices are related with the simulation results. At the end there is comment about the results and possible system modifications that could contribute to the improvement of exergy efficiency.
