## Modernization of a grip of a testing machine designed for static tensile and compression tests according to the requirements of modern standards and testing procedures

#### Abstract

The aim of the work was to analyze the construction of the grip, intended for the implementation of material tests by static stretching method and to propose and introduce changes to improve the research capabilities of the construction, of an exemplary grip. The paper presents an overview of the design solutions for sample grips on strength machines based on literature. The analysis of the grip intended for introducing changes and modernization was included, and a proposal for improvements was proposed. The work begins with the introduction of the mechanical material properties test. Graphs of metal stretches with characteristic points are included. This fragment contains a description of samples for a static tensile test, according to the standard. The second chapter gives information on the machines, in which the grips are used. This section lists the grips for static tensile testing and is divided into categories. Also friction pads are presented as important elements of the grips. This description made it possible to classify the examined grip. In the next part of the work is a record of geometric modeling. Geometric model of the grip in the CAD program is provided, as well as the main assemblies and technical documentation. A preliminary static analysis of the grip, held in the CAE program was also carried out. Information on the loads acting on it, as well as the method of defining the grip in space are included here. Finally, the results were posted along with their interpretation. Chapter four provides suggestions on how design can be modified. The fifth chapter deals with several modernizations supported by calculations, that can be carried out on the grip. It also contains a description of the role, that the shape connection from the friction pad with the sample corresponds to. The sixth chapter lists all solutions. One of them was selected, the others were criticized. In the seventh chapter for a selected modernization a static tensile test was carried out, confirming the rightness of the chosen solution. The work ends with chapter 8 summary and conclusions, which discusses essential elements of the work, their role in modifying the design of grip, and the results achived.
