## The Study of the Wire Electric Discharge Machining of brass M60

#### Abstract

In times of ever-increasing technological progress, the demand for new technologies is increasing and it is necessary to develop more efficient processes of material handling and processing. WEDM is a process that allows you to process materials that are difficult or impossible to perform with other machining methods. Due to its properties, electro-erosion cutting is applicable where other machining fails. In the following work entitled "The Study of the Wire Electric Discharge Machining of brass M60" the attention was focused on the approximation of the WEDM machining, its course and application. The aim of the work was to develop machining technology for M60 brass and to examine the influence of parameters related to the work pulse on: cutting speed, gap width, arithmetic mean profile deviation (Ra), roughness height by 10 points (Rz) and the highest height profile (Ry). The work consists of a theoretical introduction in which the essence of the process was approximated and an introduction to issues related to WEDM was included. Both the advantages and disadvantages of electric discharge machining are presented. A brief review of brass was also carried out to approximate the nature of the workpiece for which research was carried out on new technology. The research methodology with a short representation of the machines and devices used during the tests was described. The test results are presented in the tables, and the differences between the results for individual machine tool settings are presented in diagrams, which are summarized with a short commentary. The results for two different lengths of the profilometer (surface roughness measurement) in tables are presented in order to show differences in the results depending on its selection. The summary contains a short analysis of the obtained results with the presentation of the impact of relevant parameters on the received values of measured values.
