## Project of a pump module for cooling system of the PC microcomputer

#### Abstract

The aim of the study was to develop a design of a pump of water-cooling system for PC processors. The work consists of seven chapters. In the first chapter of the work, issues of heat produced by processors of personal computers were described. Techniques of taking heat from processor by various types cooling systems were presented. Their disadvantages and limits were pictured and the the-sis of preponderance of water-cooling was supported. The structure of this type of system were described and his subparts were defined. Then, available variants of pumps and res-ervoirs, their advantages and disadvantages were showed, and requirement of combining them was argued. Additionally crucial problems during maintenance and repair were men-tioned because of necessity to draw all the liquid off from the system. The first chapter ends with description of the aim of the study and establishment of its extent. In the second chapter requirements of constructed module were elaborated, included a need to eliminate problems showed id the first part of work, remembering about comfort of installation module in case of a computer, agreement with working environment, and in-terfaces related to a user. Then conceptional model showing planed layout its subparts was presented. Based on functional requirements, block diagram including liquid pump, elec-tric powertrain of pump, compensating reservoir and electric and hydraulic terminals. The third chapter is a review of available solutions that initially fulfill described earlier requirements. Additionally individual components and ways of integration with computer were analyzed. In the fourth chapter individual solutions were assessed and these solutions, which will create the module. The most important decision involved gear pump as device forcing liq-uid circulation in the system. In the fifth chapter of the work parameters of the pump were chosen. These parameters admitted of starting engineering design and choosing other subparts. In the sixth chapter of the work model of the complete designed module was present-ed. Model and constructional documentation were devised in Autodesk Inventor. Solu-tions included construction of reservoir and his placement in regard of the pump. Matters of sealing, type of bearings and friction fit, which are of central importance during installa-tion and working of the pump. In the last chapter of the work chosen solutions were commented. Gained aims were summarized, other solutions were proposed to be consider in the future, what can elimi-nate problems struck during design process and provide optimization of construction.
