## The influence of temperature and injection speed on the energy of the injection molding process

#### Abstract

The subject of the thesis was to analyse how temperature and injection speed influence the injection work and required pressure by hydraulic system. The tests consisted of plastic injection into the mould with various parameters of: speed, temperature and pressure. The diploma thesis consists of two parts: theoretical and experimental. The first part contains essential information about polymers, injection technology and controlling of this process. The practical part presents the individual preparatory and measurement activities which were carried out in that experiment. The summary of the research part consists of the graphs which show the relations between applied parameters. In the first part plastics and polymers were characterized. There were presented basic methods of obtaining polymers and parameters which characterize that materials. In the further part plastics were depicted. Also it was presented the development of that materials and their deployment in the industry. Additionally, plastics were classified according to technological division. The second part describes plastics injection molding technology. The initial chapters provide basic information about polymers processing. Furthermore, the polymers’ rheology were described. It focused particularly on their viscosity depending on the parameters like: pressure, temperature etc. In the next chapters there were presented the mechanical aspects of the injection molding production. Besides, the conventional hydraulic injection molding machine (construction and its assemblies) and its parameters were described. The next chapters supply the information about injection mold and its construction. It focused particularly on the cold channels systems. In the further chapters, there were presented the phases of material’s plasticising, transporting, and its solidification inside the mold. Important issues such as parameters of the various phases (injection cycle) were not omitted. Moreover there were described the great value of choosing the settings of that parameters and showed negative effects of inappropriate parameters applying. The last chapter directly references to the experimental part of the diploma thesis. It was presented the production control method of monitoring the hydraulic pressure. Besides, the unitary injection energy was defined and presented its practical implementing in the context of supervision over the production cycle. In the initial chapters described: applied polymer, the injection molding machine, the mold. In each chapter, the characteristics of individual elements were briefly presented. The next chapter describes the preparation steps required to start the injection cycle. They were presented in appropriate sequence. Moreover there were listed alternated actions interrelated with selection of the parameters values in the in the injection molding machine’s controller. Each setting was adequately illustrated and explained. In the following chapters there were presented the hydraulic pressure waveforms and the values of obtained parameters after the injection cycles. As in the previous chapter, the changes in the pressure and in the statistics values (for each injection cycle) were adequately illustrated on the photos. In addition, the processes of weighing received moldings and resulting masses were respectively characterized and presented in appropriate tables. The last chapter concludes whole thesis. The dependences of individual parameters were illustrated graphically. Under each of the chart, there is an appropriate comment summarizing the relations between the parameters.
