## PROJECT TO IMPROVE PRODUCTION OF FOUNDRY PRODUCTS FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

#### Abstract

The objective pursued by all companies, regardless of industry or services rendered, is to keep up in a competitive market. Actions taken on a massive scale to assist in the improvement of enterprises, led to the search for ways increase production capacity by all manufacturers. Thesis presents problems connected with the improvement of the production process at the factory in the automotive industry. The aim of the thesis is the execution of the project to improve the production of foundry products for the automotive industry. In the context of the analyzed methods, concepts and techniques relating to the philosophy of Lean Manufacturing. The thesis describes two methods to improve the production of 5 S and SMED. By implementing these methods, the plant will be able to conduct flexible production, so that meet customer demands while reducing waste. The thesis consists of an introduction and four chapters. In the introduction provides information about the purpose and scope of work and justified choice of thesis topic. The first chapter explains the basic issues related to the company and the production process. Based on the literature describes the methods, techniques, and concepts that are an indispensable part of the thesis and focus on improving productivity and streamlining production processes. The second chapter is devoted to the characteristics of the industry. It includes discussion of issues such as the mission and purpose of the industry, produced assortment, employment, organizational structure and production structure. Also lists the various operations of the production process and describes in detail the manufacturing process. Approximated problems in the production process of casting in the test industry. The third chapter presents the project to improve the production of foundry products. Described steps in implementing the 5S method in order to maintain an exemplary workplace. In tabular form the activities performed during the changeover casting machine was listed and furthermore the elements that make this process will benefit the examinee establishment was described. In this chapter an economic analysis, and finally formulated conclusions was presented. In conclusion, the thesis highlights the importance of their methods, concepts, and techniques for improvement of production. At the end of the thesis a list of figures and tables was placed. Bibliography and lists of Internet sources used during the creation of thesis was presented as well.
