## Analysis of the utility properties of the powertrain of a passenger car with a fuel cell as a source of energy

#### Abstract

In this thesis, an analysis of the utility properties of the powertrain of a passenger car with a fuel cell as a source of energy was carried out. The characteristics of fuel cells, in favour of the use in powertrain of passenger cars, were presented. The FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) propulsion system was discussed with distinction for particular components: fuel cell stack, boost converter, traction battery, inverter, electric motor. The modes of operation of the powertrain of a passenger car with a fuel cell were numerated, based on modes of operation of hybrid systems. Basic functional properties of a passenger car with fuel cells of PEM type were determined. The process of modelling the powertrain components is presented on the example of Toyota Mirai data in Simulink MATLAB software. A dynamic model of the vehicle was developed. The analysis of the obtained results from the simulation test with division into particular elements of the propulsion system was made. The conclusions were listed on the basis of a review of the current state of knowledge and simulation results of the powertrain. A summary concerning the future of FCEV vehicles has been depicted.
