## The particulate filteres diagnostics alghorithm

#### Abstract

The aim of the thesis is to present the algorithm used for the diagnostics of the diesel particulate filter and to conduct studies that affirm the rule of the established algorithm. The first chapter of the work presents the design and operation of the particulate filter. It discusses in the composition of the solid particles and the content of harmful substances in the exhaust gases produced by the engine. This chapter also describes how solids are formed. Furthermore we talk about construction of the particulate filter and the precept of its work. The next chapter presents the divide of particulate filters into design, construction and operation developed by a particular vehicle brands. Filters division introduces a description of the particulate filter using a fuel additive, then there is described the pocket filter, developed by Bosch. Further examples are the filters of vehicles from VW and BMW. The end of describes the whole exhaust aftertreatment CRT. In the third chapter are approximated elements of OBD systems used for operation and diagnostics particulate filter. This chapter contains descriptions: engine, turbocharger, turbocharger temperature sensor, instrument cluster, engine control unit, air flow, air mass meter, differential pressure sensor, temperature sensor and a particulate filter lambda probe. Descriptions of these elements show how goes the cooperation between them and the particulate filter. After describing the OBD systems begins a chapter about established diagnostic algorithm of particle filters in vehicles selected. The penultimate chapter of work is experimental verification of the established procedures for the diagnosis of the particulate filter or the established proposal of the algorithm of the previous chapter. In this chapter we have the description of the workstation used for research and testing adopted the algorithm consisted of six test of diagnostic and operation of the particulate filter. The last section of work is a summary of research: analysis of the results and conclusions of the study.
