#### Abstract

'The Family 500+ Programme' is a new welfare whose main goal is to improve the demographic situation in Poland and it is a new form of financial support targeted on parents to satisfy their needs to raise their children. The welfare is aimed at families with two children until they turn 18.The Programme’s main goal is to reduce the financial encumbrance caused by raising children and to encourage families to have more offspring. The governmental programme is an investment into Polish families and an element which will improve their material and demographic standing. The rate of births in Poland has been really low for over 25 years which does not guarantee the direct generational replacement. There are two major issues that raised my interest. Firstly, whether 'The Family 500+ Programme' will prevent the problem with baby boom and secondly, how will it affect the Polish economy and labour market, especially among women. The main goal of the thesis is to discuss the effects of the existing 'The Family 500+ Programme' on three areas: the expenses and consumption of families with children, the amount of births and professional acivity among women. The thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter is devoted to 'The Family 500+ Programme' itself. Some of the issues included are: the genesis of the programme, the criteria for granting the welfare, the main goals and motives of the governmental programme. The second chapter consists of the questions concerning voting of the welfare, setting the income down, various family situations and presents current and prospective goals driven via social policy of “The 500+ Programme”. In the third chapter which is of empirical character, will present the economic and demographic changes in the borough of NowyDuninów . The hereby thesis was written on the basis of the Law of 11th February (2016) on help of the state towards raising children and the available literature on the subject and the data gathered on the Internet.
