Justyna Łacny, PhD, is a lawyer and professor at the Warsaw University of Technology. She completed her legal studies at the University of Wrocław (2000), while her academic degrees - Doctor of Laws (2009) and Doctor of Laws (2017) - at the Institute of Legal Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where she worked as an assistant (2004-2009) and then as an assistant professor (2009-2017). During this time she directed the work of the Department of European Law.

Justyna Łacny's academic work focuses on EU law, in particular on: EU institutional law, EU funds, protection of EU financial interests, issues of unlawful spending of EU funds, mechanisms to ensure compliance with EU law by individuals and by Member States, EU administrative law and EU internal market freedoms. The most recent strand of research concerns violations of the rule of law by Member States and the legal remedies laid down in EU law that the EU institutions may use to eliminate such violations.

A separate strand of Justyna Łacny's work is analytical work conducted since 2009 for the Sejm of the Republic of Poland in connection with her employment as an expert on legislation at the Bureau for Analyses of the Sejm Chancellery. Justyna Łacny is also an advocate
