Sergiusz Łuczak was born in Tarnów in 1972, received the MSc, PhD and DSc degrees in fine mechanics and mechatronics from the Faculty of Mechatronics (FM), Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Warsaw, Poland, in 1997, 2003 and 2016, respectively. Since 2018 he has been an Associate Professor with the Division of Design of Precision Devices at the Institute of Micromechanics and Photonics, FM, WUT, where he deals with mechatronics, fine mechanics, horology and microsystem technology, especially with experimental studies of MEMS accelerometers and tilt sensors. He is author/co-author of 20+ publications in scientific journals and 20+ conference papers, and few patents pending, 50+ times was a referee for scientific JCR journals. Major awards: Champion of Poland in RC car models (1988, 1992), award of the Committee of Mechanics at the Polish Academy of Sciences for the published papers (2007), 5 awards of the WUT Rector for scientific (2004, 2008, 2017) and didactic achievements (2011, 2012), award of the Watch Connoisseur Club (Warsaw) for promoting knowledge on horology (2014). Personal interests: biblical Christianity (The Last Reformation, organic church), scuba- and free-diving, swimming, motorcycles, electronic music.
