A graduate from the Warsaw University of Technology, Faculty of Architecture (Wydział Architektury Politechniki Warswawskiej - WAPW) in 2002, Ph.D. Diploma  (with honours) in 2010. Awarded scholarships and research grants, including Dean’s grants and Research Project for doctoral dissertation granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2006). Beneficiary of Fulbright scholarship (visiting scholar at University of California, Berkeley, USA in the period 2004-2005); also, a beneficiary of the Institut Für Stadt- und Regionalplanung Technische Universität scholarship, Berlin, Germany and a laureate of the Start for Young Academics (Start dla młodych naukowców) programme of the Foundation for Polish Science (Fundacja na Rzecz Nauki Polskiej) (2007). A graduate from the Post-graduate Estate Appraisal Studies (Studium Podyplomowe Wyceny Nieruchomości ) at the Faculty of Geodesy and Cartography of the Warsaw University of Technology (Wydział Geodezji i Kartografii Politechniki Warszawskiej ) (2003).

As a doctoral student, Justyna Zdunek-Wielgołaska conducted classes in urban design and spatial development at the Department of Urban Design (Zakład Projektowania Urbanistycznego) [currently: Department of Urban Design and Rural Architecture and Planning (Zakład Projektowania Urbanistycznego i Krajobrazu Wiejskiego)]; now, she is an employee of the Department of Polish Architecture. Justyna Zdunek-Wielgołaska was also a lecturer at Warsaw University and the School of the Architecture University of Detroit Mercy, USA. She was a co-organiser and academic supervisor of stock-taking internships in Poland and abroad, among others, in Kovno, Lithuania, and Kraslav and Piedruja, Latvia. In cooperation with the University in Pisa, Justyna Zdunek-Wielgołaska organised Polish-Italian design workshop in Italy (2014). She was a leader of multiple research projects (2011, 2012) and since 2009, she has been participating in the research work of the research unit. Justyna Zdunek-Wielgołaska is also the author of surveys on the teaching quality in the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology.

In the period 2005-2006, Justyna Zdunek-Wielgołaska was the Chair of the Doctoral Students' Council in the WAPW. In 2010, she was the coordinator of the international student exchange between the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology and the University of Detroit Mercy, USA. Justyna Zdunek-Wielgołaska was a member of the Dean’s Commissions in the WAPW; the Dean's Proxy for Promotion (2012), for Teaching Quality in the periods (2012-2015) and 2016-2020); the Curator of the Night of Museums (Noc Muzeów) in the WAPW (2012), the organiser and co-organiser of the student work exhibitions in Poland and abroad (Detroit 2010, Volterra 2014). She was also an academic consultant at the Reconstruction Dispute exhibition (Spór o odbudowę) within the scope of the Warsaw Under Construction (Warszawa w budowie) cycle. She has been a member of the Academic Board of the magazine “Young Scientists Towards the Challenges of Modern Technology” and the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) since 2014.

Photographs made by her were presented at the exhibition held at Dom Polski in San Francisco, USA (2005), and at the IIE FULBRIGHT’S ART EXHIBIT at the Institute of International Education West Coast Center, San Francisco, USA (2005).
