Danuta Jasińska-Choromańska graduated from the Faculty of Fine Mechanics (since 1995 Faculty of Mechatronics [FM]), Warsaw University of Technology [WUT] in 1975, and then received PhD and DSc degrees from FM in 1983 and 2001, respectively. Her main field of interest is design of biomechatronic devices, especially for rehabilitation purposes, aided by computer modeling and simulation. She specializes in biomechanics and mechatronic biomedical devices. She has authored 138 original works so far, including 54 publications in national and international scientific journals (22 in journals indexed by JCR), 89 conference papers (42 presented abroad), 56 reports on scientific works realized for industry entities and research centers, 3 patents and 9 patent applications. Her last scientific works have been focused on a system for verticalization and aiding motion of the disabled. She has supervised 1 obtained doctorate and other 5 being still realized. Awarded several times for scientific, didactic and organizational achievements, including 1st degree award of the Prime Minister in 2002, individual award of the Minister for National Education and Sports in 2002, and over 10 awards of the WUT Rector. Her didactic activity is focused on implementing and conducting new lectures, design projects and laboratories within the field of Biomedical Apparatus and Modern Tools Aiding the Design Process. She has supervised a Student Research Circle of Medical Apparatus. In 2007, the Circle obtained the highest award for a design of a 21st century wheelchair in an international competition for students organized by the American company of Autodesk. She was a tutor of 3 foreign and domestic students who studied on an individual basis. She was a Deputy Dean for Education and Students Affairs at FM: 1999-2002, Deputy Dean for Education Affairs: 2002-2005, and has been a chairman of the Rector’s Committee for Work Conditions at WUT: 2005-2016, Head of the Division of Design of Precision Devices: 2006-2016, and a member of domestic and international scientific organizations: GAMM, SIAM, EUROMECH, ECCOMAS, member of the Section of Biomechanics of the Committee of Mechanics at the Polish Academy of Sciences, member of the Board of the Warsaw Branch of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.
