Biogram

A graduate of the University of Warsaw, Faculty of Political Economy (1965), PhD in economics (1971), habilitation (1982), professor's academic title (2010). In the years 1965-2016 an employee of the University of Lodz. In the years 1991-2011, he was the director of the Institute of Economics at the University of Lodz. From 2016, Professor at the Collegium of Economic and Social Sciences (KNEiS), Warsaw University of Technology. Scientific interests: privatization, restructuring, innovation, competitiveness of enterprises and the economy. In this area, he has prepared over 100 scientific publications, including the following monographs: System zarządzania w przemyśle jugosłowiańskim, [Management system in the Yugoslavian industry], KiW, Warsaw 1975, p. 278 ; Fotografie przedsiębiorstw innowacyjnych, [Photographs of innovative enterprises], Instytut Planowania, Warsaw 1979, p. 190. Mechanizm innowacyjny w przemyśle socjalistycznym, [Innovation mechanism in the socialist industry], Acta Universitatis Lodziensis, Łódź 1982, p. 280, Procesy innowacyjne w przemyśle, [Innovative processes in industry], KiW, Warsaw 1985, p. 224, Prywatyzacja, restrukturyzacja i konkurencyjność polskich przedsiębiorstw, [Privatization, restructuring and competitiveness of Polish enterprises], PWE, Warsaw 2009, p. 372. From 1974, he conducted empirical research in enterprises, confederations of industries, scientific and research centers and central offices on various aspects of the functioning of these entities in the context of the effectiveness of economic reforms carried out in Poland in 1974-1989. He devoted most of his attention to issues related to the assessment of the level of innovation and instruments stimulating technical progress. The experience gained in the 1980s proved to be useful in the initial period of transformation. In the years 1991-1996 he was a consultant of the World Bank for the functioning of enterprises, banks and scientific and research units. He also conducted numerous studies for the Ministry of Ownership Transformation, Ministry of Treasury, Ministry of Industry and Ministry of Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries. In the years 1993-2000 he participated in the preparation of regional development and restructuring strategies. In the years 2006-2009 he managed several research projects financed by the EU under the ESF. He received 6 awards of the Minister of Science and Higher Education (including three individual awards), for his scientific and research activity, 2 scientific awards of the Polish Economic Society PTE, 11 awards of the Rector of the University of Lodz, and awards from the Entrepreneurship Education Foundation.
