Jordi Mongay Batalla was born in Barcelona (Spain). He obtained M.Sc. degree from Universitat Politecnica de Valencia in 2000 and Ph.D. and habilitation degrees from Warsaw University of Technology in 2009 and 2017, respectively. In past, he worked in Centro Nazionale di Astrofisica in Bologna (Bolonia, Italy), where he conducted research on Diffserv networks, in Telcordia Poland, an Ericsson R&D Co. (Poznań, Poland), where he provided research on IPv6 and in Seidor S.A. (Barcelona, Spain), in charge of European R&D projects. He is now with National Institute of Telecommunications, one of the largest scientific research institutions in Poland, where from 2018 he is the Deputy Director of Research. He is also with Warsaw University of Technology, where he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Network and Services.

Currently Dr. Mongay Batalla is an adviser in different international and national technical groups. He is a technical member of the European Blockchain Services Infrastructure (European Commission), and is a technical adviser of the Polish Government for 5G cybersecurity law, a technical adviser of Polish Ministry of Infrastructure for autonomous automotive and others. He is Member of the Polish Normalization Committee and collaborates actively with ITU-T Standardisation Groups (SG-12). He is an IEEE Member since 2010.

Jordi Mongay Batalla took part (coordination and/or participation) in more than 30 national and international ICT research projects, four of them inside the EU ICT Programmes. His research interest focuses mainly on Technologies (radio: 5G and 6G, core: Network services chain, SDN, AI) and Applications (Internet of Things, Smart Cities, multimedia) for the Future Internet. He is author or co-author of more than 150 papers published in books, international and national journals and conference proceedings and two patents (Polish and European Patent Offices). He is/ has been guest editor and member of Editorial Board in more than 10 international journals. He is also interested in human sciences, especially psychology and social sciences, where he finished two postgraduate courses.
