Michał Pióro is a professor at the Institute of Telecommunications, Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Poland. He received the Ph.D. degree in telecommunications in 1979 and the D.Sc. (habilitation) degree in 1990, both from the Warsaw University of Technology. In 2002 he received a Polish State Professorship the highest scientific title in Poland. His research interests concentrate on modeling, optimization, and performance evaluation of communication and computer networks. He is an author of the recognized monograph Routing, Flow, and Capacity De- sign in Communication and Computer Networks (Morgan- Kaufmann Publishers, Elsevier, 2004) in the area, and more than 200 technical papers presented in telecommunications and operations research journals, and conference proceedings. He has led many research projects in networking for telecom industry in Poland and Sweden, and has been deeply involved in international research through participation in EC projects (FP6, FP7, Celtic, COST) and ITU projects.
