Krzysztof Szczypiorski is Professor of Telecommunications at Institute of Telecommunications (IT), Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology (FEIT), Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), Poland. Head and co-founder of Cybersecurity Division at IT FEIT WUT. Head and co-founder of Cybersecurity and Data Science Research Centre, WUT. Head and co-founder of B.Sc. and M.Sc. His research interests include: new methods of phenomenon observation especially in communication and social networks, medicine, and stock exchange, new algorithms in cybersecurity (network steganography and steganalysis, anomaly detection, and fraud management), exploring cyber crimes through digital forensics, and design of advanced intelligence systems.
He holds a M.Sc. (1997, with honours), a Ph.D. (2007, with honours) and a D.Sc. (a habilitation, 2012) all in Telecommunications from FEIT, WUT. He also finished the postgraduate studies in Psychology of Motivation (2013) at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (SWPS), Warsaw, Poland. He graduated from Budapest Tech (now Óbuda University), Hungary in Advanced Networking (2003) and from Hass School of Business, University of California, Berkeley (2013).
A visiting researcher at: University of California, Berkeley (2013), George Mason University, Fairfax, VA (2014), and Luxembourg Institute of Science \& Technology (2015). 50+ short-term scientific visits in Bulgaria, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Japan, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Serbia, Sweden, UK, and USA. He was a Principal Investigator leading 20+ R\&D projects funded by: US Armed Forces (including US Army and US Air Force), European Union (FP7), The National Centre for Research and Development (Poland), Ministry of Science and Higher Education (Poland), Fonds National de la Recherche (Luxembourg), Department of Science \& Technology -- Government of India. He is the author or the co-author of 200+ papers, 4 patent applications and 80+ invited talks (in Bulgaria, China, Japan, Luxembourg, Poland, Russia, UK, and USA). For 25+ years he also serves as the independent consultant in fields of network security, telecommunications and computer science for many entities including: Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Ministry of Finance (Poland), Oracle, Orange, Parliament of Republic of Poland, National Security Bureau (Poland), Polish Energy Group, Polkomtel (Polish mobile operator), PwC, T-Mobile, Xerox.
Founder and head of International Telecommunication Union Internet Training Centre (ITU-ITC) established in 2003. Co-founder and Director of Research & Development Department of Cryptomage S.A (2015-) -- a cybersecurity company. Director of Cybersecurity Bureau at Polish Chamber of Digital Economy (2016-). A member of the Board (2012-) of the Cybersecurity Foundation.
Senior Member of the following organizations: IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) and ASR (Asia Society for Research). Member of ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and expert-member of Telecommunication Section, Electronics and Telecommunications Commitee, Polish Academy of Sciences (PAS).
