Maciej Ławryńczuk graduated from the Faculty of Electronics Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), where in 1998 he obtained his M.Sc. degree in electronics (with specialisation in automatic control). At the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology he also obtained his Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees in 2003 and 2013, respectively, both in automatic control. He has been employed in the Institute of Control and Computation Engineering at the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, WUT: in years 2003-2004 as a teaching assistant, in years 2004-2015 as an assistant professor and since 2015 as an associate professor. Maciej Ławryńczuk has the following scientific interests: advanced process control algorithms, in particular model predictive control algorithms, set-point optimisation algorithms, artificial intelligence and soft computing techniques, in particular neural networks, modelling and simulation. He authored (or co-authored) 6 books and more than 100 scientific publications. He participated in several research as well as research and development projects, e.g. in the projects “Advanced systems and algorithms for removing smoke in high buildings” and “Development of controller for air-water heat pump”. He is involved in organisation of teaching automation and robotics (the coordinator for studies in automation and robotics since 2011), he co-authored the program of undergraduate and graduate studies in that field. He teaches, among others, the “Process control” course, which gave him the title “The best lecturer” awarded by the Student Council at Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, WUT (the “Golden chalk” competition). At the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, WUT, he has been a member of the Commission of Education since 2008.
