Anna Tyszka-Zawadzka received the M.Sc. degree in 1991 and Ph.D. degree in 1996 from the Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), both in quantum electronics. The subject of her dissertation thesis was " Effect of excess noise on laser operation of Fabry-Perot and distributed feedback lasers ". In 1996 she joined Optoelectronics Division, Institute of Microelectronics and Optoelectronics, WUT, as an Assistant Professor. In March 1995, she received the grant from Foundation of Polish Science. In December 18th 1997 she received Prime Minister Prize for her dissertation thesis. Her principal research interests include laser physics, integrated optics, stochastic properties of laser light, quantum excess noise in real laser structures, photonic crystal lasers with various resonators. Dr. Tyszka-Zawadzka is a member of the Polish Committee of Optoelectronics of Association of Polish Electrical Engineers SEP (from 1996). In 2000 she completed postgraduate study on insurance actuarial science at the Faculty of Economics, University of Warsaw
