AbstractHydrostatic extrusion (HE) is a method enabling nanostructuring of many metals and their alloys. It is also successfully used for fabrication of nanocrystalline titanium, as demonstrated in this chapter. The progress in HE processing and its main advantages and limitations are described. Process conditions determining microstructure and mechanical properties of hydrostatically extruded titanium are also discussed. Tribological and technological challenges encountered in titanium HE are particularly emphasized. Finally, we discuss the optimum value of the accumulated strain necessary for substantial grain refinement of titanium.
