Theory of Grillage Optimization—A Discrete Setting
AbstractThe grillage optimization problem can be originally posed as a pair of infinite dimensional variational problems: equilibrium and kinematic, where a function of bending moment and out-of-plane displacement is sought respectively. In the current paper those problems are analytically reduced to a pair of discrete forms being counterparts of the two forms that are well-established in optimization of trusses. In the process the two new mutually dual norms defined on a plane emerge.
