Kinetic characteristics of fluidized layer of cobalt catalyst for ammonia oxidation

Process of amonia oxidation in the fluidized layer of cobalt oxide was studied. Both total ammonia conversion and that to NO was determined at isothermal conditions for different temperatures, different height, of the catalyst bed, gas velocity and catalyst load, High yield (96 to 97%) of ammonia to NO conversion was achieved. Fluidization disturbances lowered the process efficiency. The optimum temperature was 760 degrees C to 770 degrees C. Cobalt catalyst did not enhance at a measurable way the process of NO dissociation. It has been proved that ammonia oxidation process occurred at the external diffusion region.
