AbstractOn the 14 of February there was a huge fire on Łazienkowski Bridge - the five span bridge, 423 m long and 28 m wide, built in 1972-74. It was full steel structure with four plate girders and orthotropic deck. Three service decks situated between girders were covered with wooden boards. The fire started under the first span, during an exchange of these wooden elements. On next day the Department of Bridges from Warsaw University of Technology was designated to conduct the expertise consisted of three main parts: material investigation, geometrical verification and FEM model analysis. The subject of this paper concentrates on geometrical issues. The main difficulty in this expertise was lack of the full reference data about original structure. The old design was incomplete and there was also no actual surveying results for undamaged structure. As a conclusion there are given some remarks focused on surveying measurements and on final decision about this bridge (which was finally exchanged into the new one).
