Inelastic lateral buckling of semi-continuous steel frame structures

A simplified advanced 3D analysis of semi-continuous frame structures was presented. The issues related to the contribution of load effects to the incremental stiffness of structural frame systems were discussed. It was shown that only the follower type load components contributed to the incremental stiffness, which affect the magnitude of the critical load. The suitability of the application in future design strategies being adopted in structural steel design standards is also discussed.
