Development of Planar Antennas Insensitive to Angular Alignment

This paper describes the design and realization of antennas for high performance wet mate subsea connectors enabling Gbit/s transmission. The antennas should be insensitive to angular alignment, planar and wideband. They should be well matched and operate mainly in the near field region. Two types of such antennas have been designed and tested. Obtained results are interesting and close to specifications needed. In the design and optimization full wave electromagnetic simulator QuickWave has been used.
