Dairy biogas as fuel for a Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell – initial study

Abstract

Based on 0-D mathematical modeling and numerical simulations, the performance a Molten Carbonate Fuel Cell (MCFC) run on dairy biogas is presented. The governing equations of the MCFC model are presented, the equations were utilized for an adequate simulator construction. An analysis of dairy biogas as fuels for MCFC is presented. The results are compared with hydrogen as a reference fuel. The dairy biogas is characterized by both lower efficiency and lower fuel utilization factors compared to natural gas
