Application of Mathematical Evidence to Estimate the Demand for Parking Spaces for Motorways

This article presents the application of uncertainty modelling based on DS (Dempster and Shafer) mathematical evidence in order to estimate the factors which enable to determine the parameter defining the attractiveness of a car park. The mathematical evidence theory renders the synthesis of information from many independent sources possible. Thus it appears to be the best choice, because the attractiveness of a car park for the user depends on several independent qualities. A simulation for the chosen modelling was conducted. The presented results demonstrated a dependency between the final values and the factor values of the qualities denoting facilities applied at the parking place.
